Here Comes The Sun - PSC38

Hi everyone!  Just wanted to say that it's good to be home!  Yes, I have been on vacation in sunny California where the weather was just beautiful - cool in the mornings and evenings and just gorgeous during the day.  My oldest daughter is moving in just a couple weeks about an hour from their present house to Coto De Caza, so I helped her a little bit with packing.

Here's a picture of the new house  It's still having some remodeling done.  That's my SIL walking out of the house.

To the left is a single car garage.  They are lucky with not having a whole lot of lawn to take care of, but there are a few flower beds around.  The back of the house overlooks a wooded area and beyond that is the golf course, so it's kinds of nice and quiet out there.

On the way down there, we saw this biker riding on the freeway and he had a skeleton riding on the bike behind him.  We thought it was a hoot, so of course I had to take a picture of it.
The main reason that I went though was to see my youngest granddaughter in her last recital at the studio where she has been studying dance for the last 8 years.  The program was titled "There's No Place Like Encore."  It was a take off on the Wizard of OZ. It was the first time that I've seen her "en pointe."  The pictures I took were with my Nikon camera so they are a bit fuzzy from the movement.

This is one of her on the left as one of the 2 Snow Queens.  The snow woke Dorothy up after she feel asleep in the poppys.

This is her again in the middle as one of the"water" maids.  Fire and Water are what killed the Witch.
One last one of her in the middle as one of the Emerald City people.  Altogether she was in 8 different numbers. Lots of dances and costume changes.  I don't know how they do it.  We're hoping that she'll find a new studio close to where they are moving to so she can continue with her dance.  This is her life.

One last photo - my oldest granddaughter who just finished up her first year at BYU.  She wants to major in Advertising.  With her is their dog - Tucker.  He's full of energy and very high maintenance, but just so cute and adorable.  Smart too - he knows quite a few tricks.

That's all for today.  I really need to get back in the groove and get working on some more projects.  I'll be back next Wednesday with another Perfect Sentiment challenge.  In the meantime, pop on over to the blog HERE to see what the rest of the ladies have created this week.  I think there are 2 prizes up for grabs this week since we only had 2 entries for last week's challenge.  Don't forget you could be chosen as one of the Perfect 3.

Hope you have a great day and come back to visit soon.

Time to Celebrate

Earlier this month I submitted this card to Designed to Color for the August/September issue of their magazine (online and paper). If you haven't seen one of their issues yet, drop by the blog and check it out.  I'm sorry to say it did not get chosen to be in the magazine, but Carisa did ask me if they could feature it on their blog today!  So, of course, I said yes.  I want my name and cards out there for everyone to see!

I submitted this card in their "Inspired By" section.  I was to choose a card from a prior issue and CASE it.  I tried to find a post with the card, but couldn't find one.  It's by Peggy Toole  in the April/May issue of DTC.  Her blog is www.cardcrazy.wordpress.com.

Materials Used - Image and Sentiment - My Favorite Things - Time to Celebrate; Cardstock - Stampin Up - Sage Shadow, Confetti White; Express It Blending Card; Paper - American Crafts - Neopolitan; Martha Stewart - Edge Punch; Flowers - Prima; Brad from my stash.  I distressed the edge of the image and the edge punch with Stampin Up - Rose Romance ink.  The image was colored with my Copic Markers - C00, C1; E00, E11, E31, E33, E50; R000, R20, R21, R32, Y02, Y13, Y18, YG11, YG45, YG61, YG63.

That's it for today.  Thanks for stopping by and leaving your comment.  I do appreciate it and hope that you'll come by again.  Have a fabulous weekend.

Good morning my friends.  It's another Wednesday.  Strange how they seem to pop around so quickly!  That oak tree that used to be in front of my house. . . .  gone!  It looks so bare out there now.  I can't wait until I'm able to plant another tree there to take it's place.

Summer Breeze

Summer - starts next week on the 21st, but it sure feels like Summer here.  School is out - watch out for the kiddos playing outside.  Hope you all are enjoying this lazy time of the year.  Summer brings up all sorts of fond memories – no school, endless play days, sunshine, the Boardwalk, and the beach to name a few.  I remember walking along the beach and feeling the cool summer breeze blowing off the Atlantic.  That brought to mind the song by The Isley Brothers – Summer Breeze.  You might not think you would have cause to make a summer theme card, but how about this one.

When I saw this image, I thought it was perfect for this challenge - making a card for the Summer theme for Bowdabra.

Materials Used:
  • Make it Crafty Digital Image – Summer Dream
  • Cardstock – Xpress It Blending Card; Stampin Up – Barely Banana and Pear Pizzazz
  • Designer Paper – Memory Keepers – Down the Boardwalk

  • Copic Markers

Dad's Day - PSC36

Can you believe it's Wednesday again already!  Where did that week go?   I did spend all day Saturday moving and transplanting over 2 dozen Blue Daze plants from around my old Oak tree in my front yard.  Sadly the tree has developed Gray Fungus and is dying so it needs to come down.  I wanted to try to save those flowering plants though.  I came home to a surprise - my front yard was naked!   My yard man came today and took the tree down.  I wasn't expecting that.  Well, enough about that.  Time to get on to our week's challenge.

First of all, our sponsor this week is Shelly's Images and the prize is one free digi from her store.

This week we have a color inspiration challenge for Father's Day.  The challenge is to make a card for Father's Day and use this photo.

Wow!  It was pretty tiny, so I made it a little larger, but now it's all fuzzy.  Anyway, the colors are black, gray, red, and gold.  I must say I had a really hard time with this one.  I've said before that I don't do masculine cards very well.  These ladies are always trying to challenge me.  I do love the image that I chose and like the way it turned out.  You would think with as much dp that I have, there would be no problem, but not so.  I did finally find the dp in the BG Oxford paper collection which has been stuck down at the bottom of my paper pad collection stack.

Pretty simple for this one.  I used SU Cherry Cobbler for the base and layered over it a piece of BG Oxford paper and I used the SU Ticket Punch on the corners.  The ribbon is from my stash (wasn't I lucky to have that). The sentiment is computer generated on SU Whisper White and then matted on a small piece of SU Going Gray (retired) which was then mounted on a small piece of SU Basic Black.  I did the same layering for the image which is from Stampin Up Summer Sketches (retired) and colored with my Copic markers:  Skin - E50, E01, E11; Hair - E31, E35, E37; Sand/Grass - E55, E59; Trousers - T1, T2, T3, T6, BV29; Shirts - Y19, Y29, Y32, Y35; R22, R27, R59; Outline - 0, W0, B0000.

I'm sure there's someone that you can create a man card for.  Hope you'll join in the fun.  Check out the rest of the DT and see what they've created for your inspiration.  They're listed on my sidebar over there to the left at Perfect Sentiment.  Also check out our Guest Designers for June:

Now it's your turn.  Hope you have fun creating your own man card.  Don't forget in addition to the digi stamp up for grabs, you could also be one of the Perfect 3 this week.

I am going to submit this for the following challanges:

Celebrate the Occasion - Father's Day
The Outlawz - Monday Greeting Card - Men/Boys - Outdoors

Easter in June

Yes, you saw that right!  And yes, I know what month this is.  I belong to a group that does a Monthly Challenge on SCS.  I've gotten very behind in the challenges and decided to try to get caught up. That didn't happen, but I did get a start on some of those envelopes that have been sitting on my stamp table.  This time it is images and papers I received from Kelly.  They were fun to play with especially since I love Easter - all that yummy candy that the Easter Bunny brings.

I got two cards made with Kelly's goodies.  Here's the first one.  I used an SCS sketch, but didn't write down which one.

Materials Used:

  • Cardstock - Stampin Up - Lavender Lace, Elegant Eggplant, Pixie Pink, XPress It Blending Card
  • Image - Stampin Up - Everybunny
  • Sentiment - Michael's stamped with SU Concord Crush

  • Copic markers - B0000; E31, E35, E37; R01, R22, R43; V20, V22, V25; Y18; W0, and W1
Here is the second card I made.

The sketch for this one is from Verve - March 2012, Week 2.

Materials Used:

  • Cardstock - Stampin Up Pixie Pink; Bermuda Bay; Xpress It Blending Card
  • Image - SU Everybunny

Here is my card for this week.
The image is Puppy Love Frame from Melgen Designs printed on XPress It Blending Card, colored with my Copic markers, and matted on Stamping Up Rose Romance.  The sentiment if from Stampin Up - Fancey Flexible Phrases stamped with SU Rose Romance ink on SU Whisper White and cut out using a small Marvy scallop oval punch.  The base of the card is SU Early Espresso.  The DP is from Basic Gray - Sultry paper collection.  The Lace behind the image is from Cricut Cartridge Paper Laces cut from SU Rose Romance.  The lace edge is punched using Martha Stewart Lacey Edge punch from Stampin Up So Saffron.  The image and sentiment are popped up using SU Dimensionals.  The ribbon and button are from my stash.

Scooby Doo and Teapot Tuesday

Welcome again to a new Teapot Tuesday Destination Station.  Just getting this in before the end of the day.  It's been kind of busy around here.

Our cards this week are going to Cory who is 20 years old and has suffered with medical problems throughout his entire life. He was born with Microcephaly (small brain) and he also has Hydrocephalus (water on the brain) and due to the Hydrocephalus he has undergone many, many brain surgeries better known as shunt revisions. Cory also has battled non-hodgkins lynphoma, and had several chemo treatments. Thankfully, he is now in remission.  Cory does attend school when he can. He loves, loves, loves Scooby Doo (his all time favorite).  I didn't have anything good for this in my stamp stash, so I went to the Internet and found a great picture of the whole Scooby Doo group with their van.  I printed it off and cut it out and put it together with a few other supplies and came up with this card.

Materials used:
Cardstock base - Gina K Designs 120#
DP - Basic Gray Sultry
Sentiment - Stampin Up Whimsical Words stamped with Memento Black on SU Whisper White, cut with a 1 1/2" circle punch and layered on a Scallop circle punched from SU Handsome Hunter.
Trees - Stampin Up - Lovely as a Tree, stamped with SU Handsome Hunter Ink on SU Whisper White.

I took a couple little cuts of Whisper White to make the white strips down the road.  They never were great drivers!  LOL!  If you'd like to play along and send Cory a card, you can go HERE.

Thanks for stopping by and leaving your comment.  I appreciate it.  Hope you have a wonderful day.

Tea-riffic!

I'm a little late with this card.  It is for Tickle a Teapotter which was actually last Tuesday.  I didn't get my card ready then and I just got the name of who I'm sending it to today, so I don't think it's late.  Our card was supposed to have flowers on it.  I think I did okay.  I love this paper.

The images and sentiment are some that someone sent me, so I have no idea what company manufactured them.  Sorry.  The card base is Gina K 120# and the images are all mounted on Stampin Up Close to Cocoa.  The DP I used is from Basic Gray's Lilykate paper collection: Bamboo and Posey.  The ribbon is from my stash.  I colored the images with my Copic markers:  E35, G24, G82, R01, R02, and R82.

I'm submitting this to the following challenges:

Bunny Zoe's Crafts - Anything Goes
Crafty Boots - Anything Goes + a Bow

Amusing Challenges - Anything Goes
Creative Inspriations - CAS
Outlawz - Sunday - CAS

Into the Wild

Happy Weekend.  I am always so happy when the weekend comes around.  I sure do need those 2 days to recoup my energies to face another week at work.  Tonight I decided to work on an image by Sandi Huggett over at The Outlawz!  I love these ladies.  They are just the best bunch.  I really love that Sandi and Anne give us 2 new free digis every 2 weeks that we get to play with.  This time I thought they had me stumped.  The images were of a Jeep and a Loon.  I was having a difficult time coming up with something for either one of those.  But all week I kind of had a Hummer in mind - you know - that HUGE SUV.  With that in mind, I started looking through magazines to see if anything popped out at me.  I picked up the Copic Coloring Guide Level 2: Nature which you can purchase from Annie's Attic.  So in there is a card with a tractor colored with Gray and Green and it has big tires.  All the ingredients I need for my Jeep.  With that inspiration and the MoJo Monday Sketch #23, this is the card I came up with.
As I stated - the image was drawn by Sandi Huggett of The Outlawz for the Creative Freebies Challenge.  I used Stampin Up Mellow Moss (retired) for the card base and the mat of the image.  The DP is the Basic Gray Archaic paper collection as well as the stickers.  The suede tie is from my stash that I picked up some time ago in the Dollar Spot at Target.  Once I figured out the  coloring for the Jeep, it really went together pretty fast.  The Copics I used were C1, C3, B0000, YG61, YG63, Y13, Y18, R14, R27.

I am submitting this card into the following challenges:

The Outlawz - Creative Freebie Challenge
ATC's and Cards With Attitude - Anything Goes
Fairytale Challenge - Boys or Men
Fat Pages with Attitude - Father's Day
Inspire Me Fridays - Anything Goes
Pattie's Creations - Father's Day
