Salty Honey Heart

So, tomorrow is Groundhog Day and the Super Bowl!  Are you football fans??  I'm kinda.  I like to watch a good game.  I'll probably be glued to the set cause I got some $$ riding on this one.  One of the girls at work gets a pool together every year. I can't resist! Wish me luck!

Today's card is for the Sunshine Mail Foundation.  If you don't know about them, please check out their blog.  Our sponsor this week is Stitchy Bear Designs
They have some great digital stamps to choose from.

One of the blogging groups I belong to is Stamp Addcits!  And yes, we are!  Each month we have a TAT- Try a Technique.  This month the technique was the "Salt" technique.  I must say that I wasn't too crazy about this one, but I did give it a go.  The idea is that you take some glossy cardstock and smear reinker all over it with your Aqua Brush.  Then you sprinkle salt on top of that and then mist it with your trusty mister!  Let it dry or use your heat tool to dry it quicker.  Since I needed to have it done for today (I made this last night), I used my heat tool.  After it's dry, brush the salt off the c/s and see what you get.  I don't think mine worked all that well and I may give it another try with not so coarse salt.  Anyway, at least I can say that I did it. ;)  Here's my Salty card.
I really love the way the image turned out.

Kitty in a Cup - CCC #54

Hi my friends!  I hope you all are able to stay warm and dry.  Isn't this the craziest weather!  Last Friday we had a freezing rain/sleet storm that left ice on the roads making for hazardous driving for the Texans down here.  Heck, they have trouble driving when when the weather's clear.  ;)  I decided to stay at home and wait for it to clear off a bit, but then I got a call from the granite guy telling me that his installers would have time that day to come fix my granite counter top.  There's a seam over the dishwasher and one side of the granite was slipping down leaving a little step.  So, I was glad to tell him to send the workers over and get that fixed right up.

After:

So happy to have this all fixed up again.  I sure hope it doesn't happen again after another seven years.

Well, tomorrow we're supposed to get another ice storm, not enough to cover trees and down power lines like they get up North, but it'll make driving hazardous again.  The good thing is that this time, our office is CLOSED!  Yep, I get a free day off.

Well, enough about that.  Time to show you my card for Creative Card Crew.  Not one, but two cards tonight.  We have two wonderful sponsors this week -

Sponsored by Scrapping Center
And
Aurora Wings

I think the ice storm we had on Friday gave me a brain freeze because when I was originally making this card, it completely went out of my head that I was supposed to use 2 designer papers for it.  Duh!  So I was happily going along putting my card together like this:

I really liked this one, but I was able to just lift the image mat and the sentiment mat and place them on the other card base that I made. Now I have to color up another image and sentiment so I can put them back on this card.

I hope you'll take out some time to get inky and come join us this week.  You could be one of our winnters.  Hop on over to the CCC Challenge Blog and see what the rest of the Design Team has come up with.

2013 in Review

Hi again!  I'm so glad to be back to blogging again.  With the new year I have made some resolutions which I won't bore you with now, but I did decide on a Word of the Year which is FOCUS!  This is a big word for me.  There is so much in my life that I need to focus on and not just my papercrafting.  There is still another week before the Design Teams start up again, so I'd like to share some cards from my blog through the year.  Seems like everyone is doing this.  Thought it would be fun.

I think all of these cards show a little bit about my style - that I don't have one.  I love doing fancy cards and adding all the flowers and embellishments, but I like going outside my comfort zone and trying my hand at CAS or masculine cards.  I'm looking forward to the year ahead and hopefully growing my talent even more.

Blessings to all of you and wishes to you for a very Happy New Year.  May all your dreams come true.

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year friends!  It has been so long since I've posted on my blog.  Both Design Teams I'm on have been on a hiatus with the holidays.  In a way it was good for me because first I was sick for a couple weeks and didn't have the mojo to get anything else done and then I was out of town for Christmas in California with all my family (both daughters and families) and while we were there, we also were able to attend the wedding of my oldest granddaughter.  It was a fabulous time for all of us.

It's always been a family tradition for us that the kids get to open one gift on Christmas Eve and it's a new pair of pajamas.

On Saturday the 28th my granddaughter and her fiance were sealed in the San Deigo Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  She was so beautiful and I thought her face would be hurting by the end of the day because she just kept smiling all the time.

She was beautiful and my daughter did a fabulous job making it a perfect day for her.
