Serenity - OSAAT #238

Hello my friends and Happy Sunday!  Gosh, what a week this has been. The rains have continued to come even though we've had a couple of breaks. Today was a very beautiful sunshiny day, but now tonight we're having more thunderstorms coming through. I'm very blessed that my home is situated such that I don't have to worry about getting water in it. A couple of my friends were not so lucky and will be having to do some restoration work on their homes. I was able to do a little more planting today, but my yard man is coming over later this evening to chat about some chores that I want him to do. I have a graduation party to attend in the later afternoon for a great niece who graduated from college and a nephew who graduated just yesterday from High School. It's amazing. In my extended family here in Texas, we only have 3 more that have not graduated from HS yet.

My card is good for me today.  I can use some Serenity!  Our theme for this challenge at One Stitch at a Time is Anything Goes with Flowers.

Materials Used:
  • Image - Serenity from Alipeeps Art

Thor Superhero - CK #91

Hi my friends from a very wet logged H Town!  In case you haven't heard or seen us on TV news, we had a record 10+ inches of torrential rains on Monday night. Pretty scary night. Luckily, my house is up on a slope so no water got in. I did lose power for 4 hours. We have had rain off and on, more on than off, since December. The most we've had in years.  In fact we are almost to our year mark and it's not even June yet. Then our office was without power on Tuesday morning so we were closed. An extra day off was nice. I was afraid that things were going to be bad this morning because I woke up to more thunderstorms but this one passed over us pretty quickly and I was able to get to the office even a little late.

The extra time off gave me some extra time for stamping. So let's get to my Creative Knockouts card for this week.  In case you wonder why I chose this image to use,  one of my sons-in-law has a birthday in June and it so happens that his name is Thor, so I thought this would be a great card for his birthday.  Hmmm. . must say, it really doesn't look like him, but I bet he'll like it. Besides that, his family are addicted to all those Marvel theme movies.

 Materials Used:
  • Image - Bugaboo - Thor Superhero
  • Sentiment - Computer Generated
  • Cardstock - Stampin Up Old Olive; Xpress It Blending Card
  • Designer Paper - Basic Gray - Archaic
  • Accessories - Stampin Up Label Punch; Die (?); Twine from my stash
  • Copic Markers - E34, E37, E42, E44, E47; N0, N1, N2; R27, R37, R59; T3, T5, T7; Y15, Y26, Y32

Our theme this time is Tic Tac Toe.  Use the chart below to determine how you will make your card. I used a Digi Stamp, Sentiment, and Twine for my card.

STAMP(DIGI OR RUBBER)
EMBOSSING
DIE CUTS/PUNCHES
DISTRESSING
SENTIMENT
SHAPED CARD
FLOWERS
WASHI TAPE
RIBBON/TWINE

Our wonderful sponsor for this challenge is Bugaboo Stamps. They have some great fun images and they have a Freebie Friday if you didn't already know.  For this challenge, they will award 7 digi images to one lucky winner.

Frankie's Flower - OSAAT #237

Hello my friends and Happy Sunday!  At least I hope it is where you are.  I was so happy to see sunshine yesterday. It's been nonexistent for quite some time now. I had big plans to purchase some more plants and get my planting done. I have little pots sitting all over my flower beds just waiting to be put in the ground. With all the rain we've been having, I haven't been able to get outside to plant. Unfortunately as I was going out the back door I slipped on the very slippery door mat ( that is now gone) and fell on my backside with my right leg up under me, so my right foot took the brunt of the fall. It got all scraped up and is black & blue on the side and on my big toe and the toe next to it. Hurts to walk. I've been icing it down and not doing too much except I did go run my errands right after it happened. Guess I didn't realize how bad it was until I got home. Hopefully, it will heal up quickly. Of course this puts a stop again to my lunch time walks.

So, on to my card for this fortnight's One Stitch at a Time challenge.  Our theme this time is Anything Goes With Appreciation. So get all those Thank You type stamps out and thank someone for something they've done for you. Here's my card. Someone told me that they thought he looked sad, but I think he's very cute.

Birthday Surprise - CK #89

Hi my friends.  Are you feeling as waterlogged as I am????  We're going through the Monsoon season here in H-Town.  You know the old nursery rhyme - Rain, rain go away!  But don't come back another day!  I bought a bunch of flowers a couple weeks ago but haven't been able to get them in the ground yet. Hopefully on Saturday when we'll get maybe a little break from the rain.

For now, here's my card for this week's challenge at Creative Knockouts. Our theme this week is to use Washi Tape on your card. To be honest I must say that I'm not much of a Washi Tape lover. I'd much rather use ribbons and lace, but I gave it a go. It didn't turn out too bad. The tape does give it a big pop of color.

  • Image - Sami Stamps - Birthday Surprise
  • Sentiment - Stamping Up
  • Cardstock - Xpress it Blending Card; Stampin Up Baja Breeze
  • Ink - Stampin Up Marina Mist

And the prize is a $12 GC from her store. She's got lots of great images over there. Check it out.

Don't forget to hop on over to the Creative Knockouts blog and check out what the rest of the Design Team has to inspire you and then get inky and come join us. You could be the winner of that Sami Stamps GC or picked as one of the Top 3.  Good luck.

You're Otter This World! OSAAT #236

Hi friends!  Happy Sunday. It is here since we've had some nice sunshine weather the last few days. I was actually able to go to the Nursery yesterday and pick out a bunch of Perennial plants for my gardens, most to attract butterflies and hummingbirds. I've had some monarch caterpillars on some of my plants over the last 2 weeks, but I haven't seen any of them go full cycle and become a butterfly. One of these days I'll get things set up so I can protect them and give them a safe place to hang their chrysalis and become a Monarch.

Time for Spring cleaning too - clean out the closet of Winter clothes and get the Summer ones put in. As I was working on the laundry, my dryer quit putting out heat to actually dry the clothes.  Ugh!  Hopefully I'll be able to get it fixed soon.

Well, Sunday means it's time for another challenge over at One Stitch at a Time and our theme for this fortnight challenge is Anything Goes for a Special Lady.  It's up to you to decide who that is - could be a mom, grandmother, sister, daughter, etc. My card did not turn out the way that I had all set out in my mind at first, but I am pleased with how it finished up.

Materials Used:
  • Image - Sentimental Susan - Otter This World
  • Sentiment - Sentimental Susan - Otter This World Sentiment
